Last week

I know I haven't written but I just keeping finding it so hard to sum up my experiences that I don't even try! I'm the worst.  Here are some things that have happened this week:
There was an open house at school on Saturday which is
particularly exciting because Jean is starting school in September.
They start school here at 2 or 3!!! Isn't that crazy?! This is Jean
trying out his new desk- he was a big fan (despite what this picture
depicts)
Took these pictures of the inside of the mall for Hannah
but figured I could share with y'all too.  A french mall
looks identical to an American mall - except for instead of
JCPenny as an Anchor store- this one has a huge grocery store
complete with a bunch of mechanical kids toys

I asked Louis to take a selfie with me...

I will miss these sunrises

Faithful followers might remember a previous post about a huge bag of socks...
Much to my delight (and I'm only slightly ashamed at how much I enjoyed this)
I got to sort the socks and match them up on Monday! This was the before
picture but I forgot to take an 'after' ...just imagine that they all have pairs now

Jean currently has an obsession with goggles- he wears
them everywhere, all the time
Forced Louis into a real selfie...still didn't smile for m
Went to vote with Laetita and Christophe and learned some things.
First of all, French elections always take place on Sundays.  Second,
their process is a little 'old school.'  First, you pick up each person's name
Then you choose a little ballot envelope

Then you go into a little voting stall and place the person's
card in your envelope
Then you drop your envelope in this big old ballot
box.  Definitely a little less confusing than 'hanging chads'
but probably a little more room for human error
(and literally stuffing the box)
It's my last week here and I'm trying to embrace every second that I can.  Tuesday was a bit of a damper...I seem to have gotten some sort of food poisoning (that has affected only me) and spent the entire night tossing my cookies (is that TMI? Eh, you're all family anyway)- I'm on the mend now but not feeling great yet.  Hoping I'm back to 100% for my last few days here.

Made breakfast-for-dinner tonight for the family, pancakes (plain, banana and applesauce -  I bought MnM's so I could make the Aronson family tradition pancakes- but the kids (and Christophe) ate all of them before they made it into the pancakes), eggs (and some shredded cheddar for on top - Christophe indulged but Laetitia refused to ruin her eggs with that...I will simply never understand...why is 1kilo of brie okay but  some sprinkled cheddar is not?) and bacon (which was a pretty fancy bacon, but it was all I could find in the store).  I couldn't find syrup but the kids had no problem chowing down without it (especially because they had no idea what it was and didn't know it was missing).
