A rainy day

Today was a rainy day and the beginning of the second week of school break for the kids.  I'm desperate to find ways to entertain them without turning on the television.  So today we built this massive fort- and I am proud to say the TV didn't come on until 8pm when their parents turned it on! Woohoo!

*Note Louis is just looking at this DVD player- it was actually dead I don't know why he brought it in

That's a mop holding up the middle

I incorporated the couch in our fort (which also made in physically impossible to see the TV - bonus points)
Not sure how I'm going to get through the rest of the week because this was my best idea...any ideas moms? Also- I now understand why moms are always ready for summer vacation to end...I'm sorry I always thought you guys were being mean and selfish by wanting us back in school.

I also worked on a 500 piece puzzle with Justine...and by that I mean, I did a puzzle and Justine said it was too hard and then I would give her a perfect piece to place in and she would get excited and at the end of the day she showed her mother all of "her" hard work...I guess thats how motherhood works.

Language update: Today I managed to say this to Justine in French, "You know what? I want some hot chocolate.  You know why? Because sometimes I just want to be a kid and today is that day." She understood the whole thing (and yes, my French is still so bad that I am happy when I can form proper sentences) - small victories people!

  4. my new favorite: drawing on paper with white crayons and letting them paint with watercolors. Cool effect, and keeps them busy for a bit without the TV! :)

    Also, love the fort!
