Disney! So turns out, EuroDisney is pretty much identical to Disneyworld's Magic Kingdom. Most of the rides are exactly the same - except Snow White is called "Blanche Neige" and the signs are in French and English. The Park personnel all speak French and English and the attractions were usually in both languages in this interesting "conversation-type" set up. ie: Mickey says in English, "Where's the key, Donald?" Donald replies in French, "You can't find your key, Mickey?"...etc.. so everyone was clued in.

I've also decided that even though Disney was made for kids- it's much easier to go without them (although I'm sure thats not a revelation to any of you) and our group of 12 was at times difficult to keep up with. At one point someone miscounted and I got kicked off the Star Wars ride because we were short a seat- it really was not a problem for me but Justine was traumatized from the incident. She had her eye on me for the rest of the day and made sure I had a secure spot on every ride. She's the best (and definitely my favorite).

They had a Ratatouille ride! It was great
People smoke so much in Europe! I already knew this but being in Disney this weekend has take a toll on my lungs. The group we were with had 4 smokers (essentially all the adults except Laetitia and Christoph) and most of them had a child in one hand and a cigarette in the other. It's not like they don't know how terrible it is for you...they just don't seem to care. The only good thing is no one seems to smoke in their houses or cars..glad they draw a line somewhere.

We were at the parks all day Friday, Saturday and most of the day on Sunday. We stayed at the "Davy Crockett Ranch" which was a wooded area filled with little double-wides. Our group had three of these little houses in a row (family: reminded me of Big Canoe) and each night I babysat while the adults went and had their fun in another house. This was particularly funny on Sunday morning when it was clear all of the adults had a lot to drink the night before- but the children were just as bright-eyed and energized for the day as ever before.

The kids with their favorite characters
We went on the Tower of Terror with Louis who was excitedly yelling, "The Elevator!!!" up until the moment we sat down in said elevator. He cried from the first moment we shot up until the final moment we got off the ride- then he turned around beaming and said "That was great!" Sigh. Kids.

It was very very cold- we bundled Jean for the weather. The Christmas Story Kid has nothing on him!
Also- Snow White and Pinnocho seemed to go very fast, (those are the ones where you just sit and go through the little tunnel of pictures and props) whiplash fast, which according to my group was because the line was long and they were trying to move it along- I didn't know they did that- is that common in Florida too?

I was in charge of the stroller ('Pousset' in French) for the trip earning me the title of "Captain Pousset" (Captain Stroller, definitely sounds cooler in French)
PS- "It's a Small Word" is shockingly more tolerable (and I daresay enjoyable) as an Adult.
So glad you had fun-hate it was so cold--love the Christmas Story Randy reference!!.
ReplyDeleteAHHH looks like so much fun! ^^ I also enjoyed the Christmas Story reference. Love you!!
